Fishery Administration Division

Trying to reflect the view of Japan’s fishing industry in the government policy. The JFA establishes committees and discussion panels regarding the government policies that could affect the industry as well as legal systems and trends both in Japan and overseas. It also coordinates the views in the industry and lobbies the Diet, the government and other pertinent offices.

Establishing the Headquarters for disaster Response in the face of the Great East Japan Earthquake to develop recovery measures and petition responsible bodies.

Conducting various social occasions for the industry such as New Year gathering and welcome and farewell for Ministers of Agriculture, Forestry and fisheries.

Giving award to those who made significant contribution to the promotion of fisheries in Japan. (This event has been observed since 1880.

Organizing “the Japan International Seafood and Technology Expo.” (held in Tokyo) and “the Seafood and Technology Expo . Osaka” (held in Osaka), with participation of representatives of fisheries and related industries, both from Japan and abroad.

The JFA is promoting publicity activities in Japan through the following publications “ Suisankai” (issued monthly “ and “ Fisheries Handbook “ (issued annually).
